Solving for X. This Is Why.

“What problem do you want to solve?” That’s the bold question we put to students and faculty. It’s the question of a lifetime, because choosing an important problem—then working to solve it—creates lifelong fulfillment and makes powerful contributions possible. Now, with support from philanthropy, we’re continuing to find answers to the world’s most pressing questions.

We are seeking a $52.5 million investment in creating world-class problem solvers.

Here Is How We Bring Learning to Life

Foundational to our continued success are the opportunities we give students to learn outside the classroom. Now, we are investing in making these invaluable experiences a reality, through an Experiential Learning Support Fund and Hands-On Learning Spaces. Our vision is simple at its heart: make a CAS education accessible to all while giving each and every student access to the best that UB, Buffalo and our world have to offer.

Here Is How We Practice What We Teach

The college is home to more than 450 faculty experts—researchers, teachers and mentors whose immeasurable contributions to society are eclipsed only by their life-changing impact on our students. Now, we will build on their strengths through two distinct initiatives:

  • Endowed Innovation Professors: Attracting and retaining faculty members who are dedicated to experiential learning
  • Innovation Professor Endowed Startup Fund: Providing startup funds to support these professors

Here Is How We Change the World, Starting Right Here

Our world is filled with questions that no single discipline can answer. At CAS, we are distinctively equipped to use our multidisciplinary expertise to create lasting solutions to real-world problems. Now, we are seeking significant philanthropic investment in five distinct initiatives.

Sustainable Urban Environments

With knowledge and experience we’ve gained by helping catalyze Buffalo’s rebirth and resurgence, the college will help make cities around the globe greener, healthier and more equitable.

The Arts Collaboratory

As we create a new model for infusing art and culture throughout a community, we will also ensure that students have the business acumen and entrepreneurial focus that can help them succeed as professional artists.

The Strategic Communications Hub

Here, we will focus on the power to communicate clearly and persuasively in proliferating media—an increasingly crucial and often overlooked skill in today’s global marketplace.

Digital Humanities

UB will lead a new wave of digital scholarship by enabling humanists to answer more ambitious questions, create more sophisticated tools and employ ever more advanced methods for preserving and disseminating information in a digital world.

Experiential Learning Center

Through this center—the heart of more meaningful learning experiences—we will apply experiential learning to the highest standards across our curriculum, and ensure that it permeates every facet of our culture.

The needs are great. But our ambition to advance the world and our power to effect change are even greater.

The Power of Your Investment

Our students see opportunity around every corner. Our faculty have the expertise to overcome virtually any obstacle. Now, all we need is your generous financial support to help us turn our extraordinary potential into unparalleled achievement. We ask you to join us in creating a better, brighter future for the college and communities around the world. And we ask you, just as we ask ourselves and our students: What problem will you help solve today?

UB Fund: Immediate Support for Students

When you give to the UB Fund, your gift today is made available to help support students today. It’s that immediate. Giving to the UB Fund helps ensure our students have everything they need to become thoughtful global citizens, with 100 percent of gifts used to enhance the student experience, including crucial support for research, study abroad, student emergencies and community service opportunities.
