WiSE receives state-wide recognition

WNY STEM recently awarded the Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) program a certificate of recognition for inspiring and supporting women and girls in STEM. 

Danielle Lewis, coordinator of WiSE, attended the Celebration of STEM Recognition Program to accept the award on Thursday, October 12, 2017, and stated that she “looks forward to celebrating the accomplishment with students who really make the program the special community that it is.”

WiSE is a collaboration between the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. This special initiative provides support and extra-curricular opportunities to female students in the STEM fields with the goal of increasing the recruitment, retention and success of women in the sciences, math and engineering.

The WNY STEM Hub of the Empire State STEM Learning Network facilitates collaboration among business, education, community organizations, arts and cultural organizations, and government entities to advance the interdisciplinary teaching and learning of science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics in support of sustained economic and intellectual vitality in our five-county region.
