How do I sign up to be a volunteer host?

Just ask! Contact the UB College of Arts and Sciences Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement office.

*Your party must have a minimum of 12 attendees to be eligible for an event box 

What does a volunteer host do?

A host is a volunteer responsible for working with the UB College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Engagement team to plan and execute an event: choosing a venue, date/time.

What kind of support is available?

You will have the logistic support of the Alumni Engagement team. We will assemble a list of alumni (names only) in the area and send out invitations via email, promote the event on our website and social media platforms, and manage RSVPs.

What's inside a party in a box?

Everything you need to host an UB Alumni event. Including:

  • Paper products (cups, napkins, plates)
  • Table tents
  • Nametags
  • UB pennant
  • Reusable tote
  • Pens
  • Photograph props
  • Table cloth
  • UB publication(s) 

Can I co-host?

Of course! Whether it be a colleague, friend, or former classmate.

What kind of event can I host?

Common events are hosted happy hours, but this will depend on your target alumni audience and your geographical region.

Where can I host my event?

Typical alumni events are hosted at restaurants/bars or alumni volunteers have opened up their homes.

When to begin planning?

We recommend planning about 10-12 weeks in advance. This will allow time to book a venue and send out invitations.
