The Department of Art at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York (UB) is seeking a professionally active print-based artist with a strong exhibition record and growing national reputation to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. 

Tenure track, Assistant Professor position

This is a tenure track, Assistant Professor position with full benefits and salary commensurate with experience, starting in fall 2022. UB is a tier 1 research institution with generous opportunities for funding research and travel to present work. The Department of Art faculty engage a broad range of disciplinary and interdisciplinary practices, supporting a diverse student body and approaches to artmaking.

The successful candidate will work to advance the expanded field of print through their practice. Their vision and innovation will bring the curriculum into the future with a multidisciplinary approach that integrates print into the overall undergraduate and graduate programs. 

Our Studios

Our print studios are managed by a full-time instructional support technician who oversees day-to-day operations. Labs house equipment, tools, and chemistry for lithography, screenprint, etching, relief, letterpress and book arts. Students have access to Mac-based computers, adobe software, copiers, printers, large scale printing services, vinyl and laser cutting and 3-D printing. Print labs have natural light and excellent ventilation. 

Responsibilities

  • teach two courses per semester
  • mentor graduate students
  • develop and implement curriculum
  • head Print Media concentration
  • supervise the Instructional Support Associate for Print Media (Print Tech)
  • assist in student recruitment
  • serve on departmental and university committees
  • advance your professional artistic practice and/or scholarly research • develop and sustain service to the profession/field
