Opening Reception with Artist Talk
Thursday, November 15, 2018, 5-8pm

For the last exhibit of the year the Cass Project, is thrilled to be showing recent work by the very talented Patrick Foran. This exhibition titled, State of Exception, further explores the visual narrative of mass media culture through his deconstruction of the composition into positive and negative fields. His attentiveness to detail through the use of water and pigment densities reveal the true ugliness and moments of despair that are happening on a daily basis around the world. As the artist states, “I’m particularly concerned with the nature of events that occur within the ‘state of exception,’ a permanent or de facto state of emergency in which laws are suspended, personal freedom curtailed, and sovereignty eclipsed by the state’s desire to maintain control and authority.” Patrick will be giving a short artist talk during the opening reception at 630pm.

The Main Lobby Gallery (MLG) is situated at the north end corner of 500 Seneca at Spring Street. Free parking is available in any of the neighboring lots. This event is free and open to the public. For those that can’t make the opening reception, the gallery is open, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, and by appointment. This exhibition will be on view through December 31, 2018.
