James Berry wins Award for Teaching Innovation; Omer Gokcumen wins Distinguished Postdoc Mentor Award

James Berry and Omer Gokcumen win Faculty Excellence Awards.

Berry and Gokcumen will receive the awards at UB's Fall 2019 Celebration of Faculty and Staff Academic Excellence, Thursday, October 31 at 3:30 p.m. in Slee Hall. Please register online.  All are welcome to attend.

2019 Award for Teaching Innovation

Dr. Berry will receive the Award for Teaching Innovation in recognition of his demonstrable effect on enhancing student learning-outcomes. Established to honor exceptional educational pedagogy, UB’s Award for Teaching Innovation was created in 2003 to recognize faculty who have contributed significantly to engaging students with new methods and approaches to teaching. 

2019 Distinguished Postdoc Mentor Award

Dr. Gokumen will receive the Distinguished Postdoc Mentor Award which recognizes his role as mentee, advocate, advisor and role model during the period of direct training and most often, in the following years. Established by the Office of Postdoctoral Scholars in 2009, the Distinguished Postdoc Mentor Award is awarded on an annual basis to faculty members who excel in the mentoring of postdoctoral scholars.
