Need to Know: COVID-19 Issue 17. Notices and Updates for CAS.

Official UB Covid-19 Information

Academics

  • A new, one-stop website called UB Teach Anywhere is now live. This site collects critical instructional and technology support information from UB Information Technology (UBIT), the Center for Educational Innovation (CEI) and University Libraries. It also provides school-specific resources for faculty.

Research

  • Cleaning information for laboratories and creative spaces:
    • Most research labs and other creative spaces are typically cleaned only by custodial staff working the day shift. These custodial staff are facing challenges maintaining COVID-related protocols while cleaning some labs and creative spaces.
    • Since these spaces are occupied during the day, it is difficult for the them to maintain adequate physical distancing while lab staff are working. In these instances, UB Facilities will contact PIs to establish cleaning schedules to ensure appropriate protocols are maintained and labwork is minimally disrupted.

Dean's Office

  • As you know, the effort to better support departments, programs, centers and institutes and to improve and streamline processes and procedures is underway as part of the reorganization of the Dean’s Office.
    • The deadline to apply for one of the CAS associate dean positions is Monday, Aug. 31. Nominations are being accepted through Friday, Aug. 14.

Information for Faculty and Staff

  • A Virtual Town Hall will bring together campus medical and public health professionals on Aug. 5 at 3 p.m. via Zoom.
    • Experts will review UB’s Health and Safety Guidelines and answer faculty and staff questions regarding the measures being taken to protect the UB community on campus.
  • UB Libraries are planning a phased re-opening of library spaces on campus and will continue to provide online library services for the fall 2020 semester.
  • Daily Health Verification Form: As a reminder, in order to ensure the safety and public health of the UB campus and community, employees will be required to attest daily that they are free of COVID-19 symptoms before reporting to work on-campus.
  • CAS Student Emergency Fund: Give to the College of Arts and Sciences student emergency fund to help students during the pandemic.
