Information for Faculty and Staff

  • Voting Faculty: View the President’s remarks given during the May 12 Annual Meeting of the Voting Faculty.
  • CAS Student Emergency Fund: Give to the College of Arts and Sciences student emergency fund to help students during the pandemic.

  • Study Abroad Programs: UB is cancelling study abroad programs for fall 2020. The cancellation affects programs with start dates from August through November 2020 and is based on a careful assessment of current and future risks from the pandemic in countries where UB administers programs.
  • Instructors’ access to Navigate: Instructors have access to add notes about students in their classes using EAB/Navigate, even if they had not requested access previously. Navigate has student records, notes from interactions with faculty and staff advisors and search functions. If you want full access to the other functions of Navigate, complete the online course ‘Handling Data Safely’ and then request full access by email.

Online Training and Support

  • The CAS virtual commencement ceremonies took place this past weekend. To watch or re-watch the ceremonies, visit the CAS commencement web page.
  • Submit photos from your department celebration to add to our gallery collection.

Resources for Students

  • Universal Emergency Funds: Students can apply for "Universal Emergency Funds" through UB Academic Works. These resources are available through the generosity of UB's donors and not resources from the CARES Act. UB Guidelines for distribution of CARES Act resources are not yet available.
  • Student Academic Resources: Academic Affairs has an extensive FAQ listed on their website for students with questions in relation to the transition to online learning.
  • Blue Table: students experiencing food insecurity can get support through Blue Table.
  • Health and Wellness: a variety of services are available to help students with their physical and mental health needs. Please refer students to counseling and health services.

All previous issues of "Need to Know" are available on the CAS COVID-19 website.

The College wants to hear about how you are teaching or working remotely. Please submit your photos or a few short sentences about the ways you are staying connected to students or colleagues so we can share them with the rest of the College and the UB community.
