About

Alex Green is a Visiting Associate Professor and Buffalo Community Jewish Educator at SUNY, University at Buffalo in the Department of Jewish Thought. His research is on medieval and early modern Jewish philosophy, ethics and the history of biblical interpretation. He is the author of two books: The Virtue Ethics of Levi Gersonides (Palgrave, 2016) and Power and Progress: Joseph Ibn Kaspi and the Meaning of History (SUNY Press, 2019), and numerous articles in peer-reviewed publications and edited collections. He also coedited Jewish Virtue Ethics with Geoffrey Claussen and Alan Mittleman (SUNY Press, 2023)

As Buffalo Community Jewish Educator, he runs the Home/Hub Partnership between UB’s College of Arts and Sciences, Hillel and the Buffalo Jewish Community, which seeks to draw on the academic resources of the university to address critical issues facing the Jewish community. Some of his current projects include the Buffalo Day of Jewish Learning (20222023) and the Hillel Summer Internship Program
