UB Concert Band

UB Concert Band.

The UB Concert Band presents a wide variety of music, spanning from Wagner, Mozart, and Strauss to Ellington and Zappa. Open to students of all majors without any audition requirements, the UB Concert Band presents two concerts annually in Slee Concert Hall. The ensemble rehearses twice weekly.

Over the course of the year, a variety of guests visit rehearsals to give master classes and work with the band on sectionals. This is an important part of the course; band members have the opportunity to work with a number of excellent professional musicians each year. Band members are also eligible to receive complimentary tickets for selected concerts in Lippes Concert Hall.

The UB Concert Band is directed by Jon Nelson, who brings extensive experience and dedication to this role. In addition to being on the faculty at UB, he also maintains a busy schedule as a performer, composer, and arranger throughout the United States and abroad.
