Professor Karunaratne received his Bachelor’s degree in Physics (with minors in Mathematics and Statistics) from University of Sri Jayawardenepura in 2004. He obtained his PhD in Physics from Northern Illinois University in 2015. His PhD research focused on understanding the dynamics of Alpha Crystallins, major protein found in the mammalian eye lens using coherent X-rays and Lasers. Professor Karunaratne joined the Department of Physics as teaching faculty in 2019.
