BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Elemental House, a project by first-year undergraduate students from the Department of Architecture in the University at Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning, will open with a reception from 6-8 p.m. on March 3 in the UB Anderson Gallery.

UB Anderson Gallery, located on Martha Jackson Place near Englewood and Kenmore, is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm and Sunday from 1-5 pm. The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, will be on view through April 2.

Beth Tauke and Michael Zebrowski, both associate professors in the Department of Architecture, worked with 140 students to develop, design and construct models utilizing the concept that spatial structures are based on the main body positions -- standing, lying, and sitting. Elemental House contains spaces for the human body in its basic positions, altered to accommodate domestic functions.

Ten teaching assistants, Seth Amman, Erina Ardianto, Nick Bruscia, Erin Cox, David Goldstein, Peter Heller, Kevin Moran, Jen Oakley, John Scanlan, and James Sternick, assisted with the project.

UB Anderson Gallery is supported with funds from the Office of the Provost, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Anderson Gallery Program Fund and the UB Collection Care and Management Endowment Fund.
