Breverman Receives Meissner Prize From National Academy of Design

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Harvey Breverman of Amherst, professor of art at the University at Buffalo since 1961, has been awarded the Leo Meissner Prize in Graphics by the National Academy of Design. He was elected a member of the academy two years ago.

The awards ceremony and reception took place in the Museum of the National Academy of Design in New York City last month in connection with the museum's 170th Annual Exhibition.

Breverman also is participating in the 14th Spanish Print Internacional, which will travel to England, France and Finland. He previously has participated in international biennials in England, Norway, Spain and Taiwan, and has received awards from many foundations and museums.

His prints, paintings and drawings are held in scores of public and corporate collections, among them the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, Albright-Knox Gallery, Baltimore Museum of Art, New York City's Jewish Museum, Museum of Modern Art and National Museum of American Art in Washington, D.C.
