“The best advice I can give is to get involved in the Department of Psychology as much as possible. The Undergraduate Psychology Association (UPA) and Psi Chi (The International Honor Society in Psychology) put on multiple events every semester that allow you to meet new people, explore other fields, and find different opportunities. These organizations provide many chances for leadership development by becoming a member of the executive boards. There are also plenty of opportunities to become a teaching assistant or research assistant. Even if you do not want to pursue a higher degree in psychology or become an educator, there are so many skills that these experiences present. My other piece of advice is to get to know your professors. They truly want to see their students succeed and building those relationships will not only allow you to gain an understanding of the coursework, but also potentially open you up to opportunities, new knowledge, and contacts.”  – Meredith Morell
