Stephine Hunt holds a BA in English from Alfred University and an MA in English from SUNY Fredonia. Her research interest lies at the intersection of ecocriticism, cultural geography, and critical race and ethnic studies within contemporary multi-ethnic American literature. She is particularly interested in studying how these topics are shaped by the dynamics of gendered space and place within literature written by marginalized groups in our society today, such as Native Americans, Latino/as, and Arab-Americans.

I chose the American Studies PhD program because of the interdisciplinary nature of the program and the enthusiasm of the professors and students I met when I visited campus before I was officially a student. As a new PhD student, I am constantly impressed by the nature and depth of the scholarly and friendly conversations that happen within and outside the classroom in this department. - Stephine Hunt
