Being an academic advisor is like a cross between being a teacher and being a chess master. You get to teach students how to navigate this vast new world and are sometimes met with grand challenges or puzzles that you need to help fix. It can be very rewarding!

Advice and Tips for Students:
Get involved in your departments. Know your professors. Get involved in research and clubs of interest. Look for experiential opportunities and internships. Get involved in ways that will connect the dots for you.

Advice for first year students:
Be proactive. Don’t wait until you get a bad grade to seek additional help. Start right away by using the resources on campus like office hours, tutoring, and study groups. Starting with a good foundation is key for success.

Interests/Hobbies:

  • Going on adventures with my son

  • Painting and being creative
