David Hoekstra wins teaching award from Northeastern Association of Graduate Schools

Dr. David Hoekstra, Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, was awarded the 2022 Graduate Faculty Teaching Award by the Northeastern Association of Graduate Schools (NAGS) at the Master’s level. NAGS is comprised of all graduate schools across the Northeast and also includes graduate schools in the Canadian southeast.
Excellence in teaching and mentoring graduate students
In notifying Hoekstra of the award, Graham Hammill, UB Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Graduate School, states "The award committee highlighted your leadership in revamping the master’s degree program in Biological Sciences, which has led to increased applications and increased success of students upon completion of the program."
The committee also noted Hoekstra's strong commitment to graduate students in the program as evidenced by your record of excellent teaching and mentorship.
