Appointments and Fees

Appointments may be made by calling (716) 829-3980. The clinic provides services Monday through Thursday during regular business hours. Referrals are made from many sources, including hospital and school personnel, physicians, and social agencies. A confidential diagnostic evaluation will be scheduled to determine the nature of the difficulty and develop recommendations for treatment.

Admission Criteria

Prior to admission to the University Clinic therapy program, a diagnosis of a speech-language or hearing disorder must be documented. A diagnosis of having a mild or greater impairment in one or more of the following areas would need to be established before initiation of therapy: articulation, language, fluency, voice, hearing impairment, central auditory processing, oral-pharyngeal, and/or cognitive-communication. The patient must be medically suitable for treatment.

Policies Pertaining to Fees

All speech-language services providing an individual component are $60.00 per visit. Audiology fees vary according to the service rendered. There is a $30.00 non-refundable materials fee for the intensive programs and the preschool program. If there is not enough room in a particular program for your child, the materials fee will be refunded. The fee will not be refunded for those withdrawing their registration or their child from the program. Please see the attachment at the end of this page for more detailed fee information.

The clinic is a participating provider with most major insurance carriers. Patients are responsible for applicable deductibles and co-payments, and for any service that is unpaid by insurance. Services not covered by insurance are billed directly to the patient. Because insurance policies vary greatly, we strongly recommend that you check with your insurance carrier prior to your scheduled appointment to determine coverage afforded to you by your policy. Some insurance carriers require the patient to obtain a written medical referral, pre-authorization, or referral number through a referring physician before coverage of services can be authorized. Clinic staff can assist you with this process, however, it is your responsibility to provide the clinic with all the necessary insurance information prior to or at the time services are rendered. If the required information is not submitted, you assume direct responsibility to pay the cost of all services rendered. General operating hours of the Clinic are Monday through Thursday 8:30 am until 4:30 pm and Friday 8:30 am until 3:00 pm throughout the year.
