Personal Statement

My interests are generally focused on two domains in the field of speech and language pathology . The first is swallowing . I adopt the view of observing the effects of different interventions on swallowing safety and swallowing efficiency. Swallowing safety refers to the ability to protect the airway during transferring food from the mouth to the Esophagus; a deficiency in   protection   leads ultimately to aspiration of food into the airway. Swallowing efficiency refers to complete food transfer without leaving residue in the pharynx , that would also contribute to aspiration and its sequels of discomfort , pneumonia , decrease quality of life and malnutrition.

My second domain of interest is Voice disorders, and here i am also focused on which interventions ultimately lead to better vocal physiology , and patient comfort . In the near future i am planning to investigate a set of  different interventions against each other for a group of common Voice disorders , hoping to map out which intervention is more suitable for each disorder in terms of efficiency and reliability.
