Economics Scholarships/Awards available for 2020-2021

Applications for the following opportunities will be accepted between now and December 4, 2020. 

The Joseph W. and Kenneth P. Kogut Brothers of New York Mills Development Award: $12,485

This award was established in 2007 by Frederick J. Kogut, BA'60 & EDM'65 and his daughter, Nina F. Kogut-Akkum, in memory of Frederick's late brothers, Joseph W. Kogut, BA'66 and Kenneth P. Kogut, BA'64, both economics graduates. Qualifications: Must be an undergraduate or graduate economics student engaged in activities beyond the required curriculum, related to the economic development of Africa and/or upstate New York, or any other activity related to the Peace Corps. Funds will not be applied to tuition, room or board.

William A. Strauss Economics Scholarship: $10,490

Established in 2012 by William A. Strauss, BA '80, to provide an annual scholarship to a student majoring in economics who has demonstrated outstanding scholarship and commitment to the program.

Qualifications: Economics major. Preference will be given to juniors and seniors with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and at least a 3.5 GPA in economics-related courses.

Matthew Scarpati Endowed Scholarship: $2,620

This scholarship was established in 2010 by Mr. James and Mrs. Lynn Scarpati in memory of their son, Matthew Scarpati.

Qualifications: Must be an economics major who has completed the freshman year. Preference to those with a minimum 3.0 GPA, U.S citizens, and male students. Requires a reference letter from a fellow student.

 

All applications will be reviewed beginning December 5th. Recipients will be announced early in the spring 2021 semester.
