Student Experience

The UBPG is a learning-centered organization committed to student success. With university production activity providing both a backdrop and an enhancement to the classroom experience, the group utilizes student assistants and interns, and serves as a catalyst for project-based learning activities.

Hands-on Learning

The UBPG’s contributions to the UB academic environment and team interaction with students is high, averaging 1860+ student contact hours per semester as paid assistants and through credit-bearing video internships. Incorporating students into the operation fulfills a crew labor role and promotes direct experience with industry professionals.

These types of real-world, hands-on experiences have launched careers, built portfolios and smoothed entries into prestigious graduate programs. Many of our alums say that being a part of a specific production, such as Springfest or Music is Art LIVE @ the Center, was their most memorable college experience, and that the UBPG played a major role in their success.

Music is Art Live.

The award-winning TV series “Music is Art LIVE @ the Center” highlighted local artists and provided internships that enabled students to learn multi-camera production.
