College of Arts and Sciences Class of 2025

Congratulations on your acceptance and welcome to the University at Buffalo! You earned a seat at UB because of your potential—to develop your future, to help shape UB, and to contribute your unique gifts to our larger society. This is UB’s tradition of excellence, and we’re so proud that you’re part of it.

Why choose the College?

Small college feel with big university benefits

With 29 departments, 16 academic programs and 23 centers and institutes, the College offers more academic options than any other unit on campus. You’ll have the resources of a major research institution – like cutting-edge facilities and faculty at the forefront of their fields – as well as the support of a small university setting where your individual needs are recognized and respected.

Hands-on opportunities

Learning by doing is the key to our students' success. In the College of Arts and Sciences, we encourage our students to take advantage of the life-changing opportunities happening around them every day.

What is experiential learning?

Experiential learning opportunities let you apply your knowledge and insight within real-world contexts outside the classroom. You'll gain a heightened sense of civic responsibility, sharpen your critical thinking skills and share your unique talents, interests and passions.

These opportunities — which are typically under the mentorship of researchers, faculty and community leaders — may include internships, volunteer assignments, part-time jobs, clinical experiences, faculty-mentored research and faculty-mentored engagement projects.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to intern for the NFL on game day? Department of Media Study student Michael Hunter turned his love of sports and video-editing skills into an internship filming crucial plays for the Buffalo Bills.
