Joyce Jekayinoluwa Receives 2025 AAUW Olga Lindberg Scholarship

Joyce Jekayinoluwa, a PhD student in Global Gender and Sexuality Studies, has been awarded the 2025 Olga Lindberg Scholarship from the American Association of University Women (AAUW). The honor recognizes women whose academic achievements, personal goals and community impact reflect a strong commitment to advancing equity.

Jekayinoluwa’s research explores the intersections of gender, violence prevention and higher education, with a particular focus on Nigeria and the United States. While her dissertation is still taking shape, her work is grounded in feminist, community-driven approaches to social change and supporting survivors of violence.

“I’m honored to receive this award and more committed than ever to using both scholarship and advocacy to help build safer, more equitable futures for women and marginalized communities,” she says.

She credits faculty mentors Dr. Melinda Lemke and Dr. Kelsey Lewis, along with the Department of Global Gender and Sexuality Studies, for their ongoing support and guidance.
