Dr. George's 2019 dissertation “Lesbian and Gay Life in the Queen City and Beyond: Resistance, Space, and Community Mobilization in the Southwest Missouri Ozarks,” won the 2021 John D’Emilio LGBTQ History Dissertation Award for the best PhD dissertation in U.S. LGBTQ history!
