Biographical Statement

”Jennifer Loft (Six Nations, Mohawk) is a Assistant Director in the Department of Indigenous Studies where she serves as Assistant Director. Born and raised in Buffalo, N.Y., she holds a BA in Psychology and MA in Global Gender Studies, both from the University at Buffalo. Jennifer served in various officer roles with the Native Graduate Association (NGA) at UB, including president, where she co-organized the annual Storytellers Conference and various cultural and academic events. She began her professional career with Native American Community Services of Erie and Niagara Counties (NACS), and has since worked at ECCPASA (now The Prevention Council of Erie County) and SUNY Buffalo State. Jennifer is honored to return to UB to serve in her new position as a departmental administrator and is excited to play a role in the creation of the Department of Indigenous Studies: “I look forward to building new relationships at the University, in the community, and with our students. Together we will create a welcoming space for Indigenous students, faculty, staff, community members, and allies to learn from each other, socialize, and excel academically and professionally.”
