Daniel Kotzin, PhD, is an Associate Professor of History at Medaille College and an adjunct instructor at the University of Buffalo. His book, Judah L. Magnes: An American Jewish Nonconformist (Syracuse University Press, 2010), examines the ways in which one American Reform rabbi translated American values to British Mandatory Palestine. Currently, Prof. Kotzin is researching immigrant soldiers in the American Civil War. While he teaches primarily American history at Medaille College, he enjoys teaching Jewish history for the Department of Jewish Thought. His favorite course is JDS 237: The History of Zionism and Israel. Prof. Kotzin’s article about how he teaches this course at UB was published in AJS News.
