Dyan Burlingame is an Associate Clinical Professor of Design and Technology with the Department of Theatre and Dance (THD), as well as a Freelance Scenographer. She has been a guest lecturer of design for the United States Institute for Theatre Technology and for Niagara University, Niagara Falls, NY. Dyan is a resident designer for Road Less Traveled Productions and Neglia Ballet Artists. Additionally, her design work with local and national companies includes Musicalfare Theatre, Irish Classical Theatre Company, Kavinoky Theatre, Honolulu Theatre for Youth, BAV (Chicago, Houston, Bethesda, Hartford, Orlando, and Naples), City of Night Buffalo, Hallwall’s, and Artpark. In 2019, she was a part of the exhibit installation team, as Company Manager and Scenic Artist, representing the United States at the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space in Prague, Czech Republic. Dyan teaches courses in lighting design, scenography, theatre crafts, scenic painting, and portfolio development; as well as oversees the scenic painting department for all THD productions. She is an active member of United States Institute for Theatre Technology, International Organization of Scenographers, Theatre Architects, and Technicians, the Broadway Green Alliance, and the Guild of Scenic Artists. Dyan holds a BA in Theatre Design and Production with a Minor in Archaeology from the University at Buffalo and a MFA in Stage Design from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas.
