Mason Barber (he/him/his) is an actor and director hailing from Peru, NY. He is a graduate of the State University of New York at Plattsburgh with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Theatre. While pursuing his degree, he was nominated thrice for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship for his work acting, received a KCACTF Merit Award for Directing, and was accepted into the SDC National Student Directing Fellowship Award program. He was the inaugural director for Adirondack Regional Theatre’s Young Director Series with The Little Mermaid Jr. in 2014, returned to work on Xanadu Jr. (2018), Godspell (2022), The Sound of Music (2023), and Twelfth Night (2024).
Additional credits include Head Over Heels (Chazy Music Theatre, 2021), The Ophelia Perspective (SUNY Plattsburgh Theatre Department, 2021), The Importance of Being Earnest (SUNY Plattsburgh Theatre Department, 2020), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (College Theatre Association, 2022), and Company (College Theatre Association, 2019). He has also worked as the director for the Adult and Young Adult Playwriting Workshop series in Plattsburgh. In October 2021, he received a decentralized grant from the New York State Council on the Arts to teach a series of directing workshops for the Young Artist Play Festival. His areas of research focus on directing and musical theatre.
