Bella Poynton is a playwright, director, and PhD candidate from Buffalo, NY. She was a Regional Playwriting Resident at Road Less Traveled Productions from 2016-2018 and is the Artistic Director of The Navigators Theatre Company in New York. Recently, her work has been produced and developed by MadLab Theatre, Quantum Dragon Theatre Company, Pittsburgh New Works Festival, Anteaus Theatre Company, The Bechdel Group, The Great Plains Theatre Festival, Post-Industrial Productions, and Otherworld Theatre. She is a member of the Alleyway Theatre Playwrights Circle and her short play The Offer was recently published in The Best Ten-Minute Plays of 2019 (Smith & Krauss). This past winter, Bella co-organized “2019: A Stage Odyssey: A Symposium on Science Fiction Theatre & Performance” at the University of Toronto with Tiffany Keane-Schaefer and Sanja Vodovnik. Bella also serves as the Graduate Liaison of the Mid America Theatre Festival Playwriting Symposium and will be co-chairing the working group “World of Knowledge: Science, Performance and the Public” at the American Society for Theatre Research.
