Bella Poynton is a playwright and Ph.D. candidate at the University at Buffalo. Recently, her article “Playwriting with Robots: Creating Cyborgian Theatre with Online Chatbots” was published in Theatre/Practice. Her short play The Offer was published in The Best Ten-Minute Plays of 2019 (Smith & Krauss) and her play “Eleven Things that Almost Happened to Rick and Hanna…” is forthcoming in The Best American Short Plays 2018-2019 (Applause Publishing). Bella currently serves as the Graduate Liaison of the Playwriting Symposium at the Mid America Theatre Conference and is a co-editor of Interventions at Contemporary Theatre Review. She served as President of the Theatre & Dance GSA club from 2018-2020. Research interests include robotics and emerging digital technologies in performance, science fiction theatre, and new play development.
