Second year MFA candidate and Graduate Teaching Assistant Jacqueline Cherry is a dancer, choreographer, and actor, plus a Buffalo, NY native. As part of Theatre and Dance’s fall 2020 virtual dance concert Home and Away she choreographed and starred in a solo piece titled “Be Alright,” filmed in downtown Buffalo outside of her church, which is currently closed due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

    UB Theatre and Dance will present a unique new dance project this fall called “Home and Away: A Virtual Dance Concert,” and including 50 dance majors in the undergraduate degree program, from freshman to seniors, as well as works and performances by MFA students.

    “Everybody” is a finalist for the 2018 Pulitzer Prize in Drama by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, and was first produced off-Broadway by Signature Theatre, opening in Feb. 2017. It is a contemporary take on one of the oldest plays in the English language, the 15th-century morality play, “Everyman.” The UB rendition of the show is directed by Dr. Lindsay Brandon Hunter, associate professor and THD  director of undergraduate studies. Originally intended to be performed as part of THD’s spring 2020 season, it was postponed when Covid-19 struck.

    THD’s traditional fall 2020 musical will be a newly conceived virtual musical revue titled “SAFER,” and includes new songs and poetic work by an exciting line-up of professional music theatre composers and lyricists. Available ONLINE on October 23rd, 2020 at 7:30 PM. Details TBA.
