Rachel Pitonyak’s current research focuses primarily on the importance of women film directors, and the evolution of their work throughout time. This focus analyzes external factors that led to their disappearance in both the industry and from historical accounts of early Hollywood, as well as factors influencing the industry today.
I chose the American Studies PhD program within the Transnational Studies department because it gives me the opportunity to explore my intersecting research interests.
