UB alumna Janet Litster Rideout, PhD ’68, passed away on November 25, 2023.

The Department of Chemistry is saddened to share that UB alumna Janet Litster Rideout, PhD ’68, passed away on November 25, 2023. Janet had a prolific scientific career establishing over 40 patents and conducting groundbreaking research on treating the HIV virus. In recognition of her scientific achievements, Janet received the UB Distinguished Alumni award in 2014 and the CAS Dean’s Award in 2012. Throughout her career, Janet was a long-time donor to the Chemistry Department and we are fortunate to continue supporting undergraduate students and advancing scientific research through the Janet Litster Rideout Fund.
