Roman Culture

Students at the Colosseum.

The department offers a strong interdisciplinary basis for the study of Roman culture in its many aspects, including archaeology, history, literature, rhetoric, aesthetics and linguistics. Recent faculty research includes inquiries into Roman religion, sacrifice and ritual exchange, as well as oratory and Silver Age poetry. An annual Winter Session Study Abroad Program is run by departmental faculty members in Italy.
