UB and SUNY Study Abroad programs are designed to enrich students’ academic lives by providing exciting and educational international experiences.
Where Can I Go?
Students can receive transfer credits for taking Jewish Studies courses anywhere in the world. However, there is extensive Jewish Studies coursework available at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv University and University of Haifa, of which SUNY (through the University at Albany) has a Study Abroad program.
The Hebrew University of Jerusalem
This program begins with a six- to seven-week ulpan for fall and academic year participants and a three- to four-week ulpan for spring participants, both consisting of intensive Hebrew language study. Students choose from a variety of courses in Judaic Studies and Modern Israel or select their own program from courses offered at the Rothberg School for Overseas Students.
Tel Aviv University
This program begins with a four-to six-week ulpan for fall and academic year participants and a three- to four-week ulpan for spring participants, both consisting of intensive Hebrew language study. Students choose from a variety of courses in archeology, business, ecology, economics, environmental studies, fine arts, Hebrew/Arabic culture, history, humanities, language, law, literature, natural and physical sciences, philosophy, politics, religion and women's studies.
University of Haifa
This program begins with a four-to six-week ulpan consisting of intensive Hebrew language study for fall and academic year participants. Students choose from a variety of courses including phsycology, archeology, communications, English literature, Hebrew/Arabic culture, history, humanities, language study, law, literature, marine archeology, philosophy, politics, religion and sociology.
