The UB Department of Music has designed the Advanced Certificate in Contemporary Performance to provide students with creative opportunities to develop their experience in contemporary music performance. Students will study all aspects of contemporary music performance, presentation, recording and entrepreneurship.
In collaboration with the Center for 21st-Century Music, students have the opportunity to perform with the Slee Sinfonietta, at the June in Buffalo Festival, and in the greater Buffalo area. The Department of Music is home to an internationally-recognized graduate program in Composition, exceptional performance venues and a comprehensive library collection of contemporary music scores and recordings.
The following is the approved normal course of study for students pursuing an Advanced Certificate in Contemporary Performance. In all cases, a student's particular program should be determined in consultation with his/her academic advisor. Customized tracks, involving substitutions for required and elective courses, are encouraged. These must be planned in advance with the advisor and will require the approval of the Music Department Graduate Committee.
