The University at Buffalo is pleased to report that 1,368 students from the group of 5,109 applicants who received the errant communication on April 13 were offered undergraduate admission to the university.
Among this group of accepted students, 226 were offered fall admission; 770 were offered spring admission and also given the option of being on the waiting list for fall admission; and 372 students were accepted into UB’s Educational Opportunity Program, pending final review of their financial records.
Of the remaining applicants, 424 were not granted admission after very careful review of their applications, 15 withdrew their applications and 3,302 had incomplete applications and therefore were not considered for admission to the university. Application for undergraduate admissions to the university remains open until May 1. However, space is limited.
Since the April 13 transmission of the erroneous email, the university’s Office of Enrollment Management has strengthened and implemented additional internal controls to prevent future miscommunications. This includes multi-layered review of all email communications before they are sent. The office is also retraining all staff on the new and existing controls to ensure accurate delivery of email communications.
The university again apologizes for the emails sent in error by our Office of Financial Aid and we offer best wishes to all of the applicants in their future pursuits.
