Congresswoman Louise Slaughter will announce today a multimillion appropriation to the University at Buffalo to support groundbreaking research to be conducted within its $118 million Clinical and Translational Research Center (CTRC), under construction as part of the new UB-Kaleida Health building on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.
Who: Rep. Slaughter, UB President John B. Simpson and David Dunn, UB vice president for health sciences, will speak at the news conference.
What: This important contribution to the new UB facility will advance research on stroke, cancer, heart disease and other diseases. It will facilitate collaboration among Buffalo's major medical and research institutions.
The new 10-story UB-Kaleida Health building is set to open on the BNMC in fall 2011. UB's CTRC and Biosciences Incubator, which will occupy the fifth through eighth floors, is expected to transform the environment for clinical and translational science in Western New York.
When and Where: The news conference will be held at 11 a.m., today, Thursday, Oct. 28, in UB's New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences (COE), 701 Ellicott St. (second floor) in downtown Buffalo.
