Experiential Learning Opportunities

The Social Sciences Interdisciplinary program encourages every student to seek learning opportunities beyond the classroom. Whether by interning with a local or national organization, making an impact in the Buffalo community, or taking your education overseas, the initiative to broaden your horizons will open doors to a multitude of worthwhile experiences.

Resources in Social Sciences Interdisciplinary

Find an Internship

Internships are one of the most direct, valuable ways for students to explore future employment opportunities. Our students are either required or strongly encouraged to complete one or more semester-long internships as part of their major to gain hands-on experience in their field of interest.

Study Abroad

Study Abroad at UB offers a world of opportunities (literally!) for learning and personal development. SSC students are encouraged to pursue study abroad, and may apply for the program's Study Abroad Award.

Visit the Experiential Learning Center

The Experiential Learning Center is a resource specifically for students in the College of Arts and Sciences. Ask for guidance from staff experts or simply use the space to research opportunities and funding sources.

Get Involved with the Community

UB promotes many forms of service-learning. From alternative break sessions to teaching in the Buffalo Public Schools to "Saturdays of Service," these unique community-oriented activities help others while building essential communication and leadership skills.

Conduct Research

The Project Portal connects undergraduates to research opportunities that allow students to dive deep into a subject of interest with distinguished faculty guiding their way.
