  • IDP graduate wins prestigious Fulbright Award

    Congratulations to Lilian Macancela, a 2020 graduate of the Social Sciences Interdisciplinary Program (Legal Studies) for her selection as a Fulbright Scholar in Italy for the 2021-22 academic year! The Fulbright is an extremely competitive and prestigious award that has supported international cultural exchange since 1946. Lilian will join an elite group of Fulbright alumni that includes Pulitzer Prize winners, MacArthur Fellows, Nobel Prize winners, and leaders in government and industry throughout the world. We are so proud of Lilian’s accomplishment and know that she is going to continue to impress us all!
  • IDP Outstanding Senior for 2020

    Congratulations to Pemba Sherpa on being named IDP’s Outstanding Senior for the Class of 2020! Pemba graduated with a double major in Legal Studies and Psychology in May ’20 and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. In addition to her stellar performance in the classroom, Pemba stood out for her numerous community contributions, both on- and off-campus. We  wish Pemba continued success in the future!
  • Congratulations to our 2020 Charles Haynie Award Winner

    IDP was pleased to honor Lilian Macancela ’20 with the 2020 Charles Haynie Memorial Award. Lilian’s many experiences in the local Buffalo community, ranging from her work as a bilingual tutor and mentor to her internship with a Buffalo City Court judge, are a testament to her commitment to equity and justice. Lilian graduated in May ’20 with a major in Legal Studies and a minor in Italian. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for this inspiring UB alum!

    We are excited to introduce three new timely, flexible minors to our program offerings.  Nonprofit Leadership is perfect for students who have an interest in nonprofit organizations, community work, leadership, and/or social justice. Our minor in Health and Human Services is an ideal complement to many UB majors, providing students who plan to work in the health professions or in social or human services with a range of skills and experiences germane to their future careers. The minor in Strategic Media Messaging allows students to enhance their marketability in a rapidly evolving media landscape by developing skills in strategic storytelling and communication. Each minor is 18 credits and offers a number of elective options. View our minors
