Makaela Brass is currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Sociology at UB. She holds a certificate in Anti-Human Trafficking, which has influenced her interest in the intersections of race/ethnicity, gender, culture, and other social inequalities, particularly in relation to human trafficking and exploitation. Furthermore, she is interested in Black feminism, where she wants to explore how interactions in communities and cultures create social expectations and controlling images among Black women, resulting in exploitation.
