Bio

Teya Juarez (she/her) is a scholar, dramaturg, and performer originally from Fresno, California. She holds a BA in Theatre Arts-Acting from California State University, Fresno (2021), and a Master’s in Theatre Arts from Villanova University (2023). She is currently pursuing her PhD in Theatre and Performance at University at Buffalo. Her research focuses on fatphobia and body image in theatre. Her other areas of interest include queer theory, intersectional feminism, horror, equity/diversity/inclusion/accessibility practices, and generally critiquing normativity in theatre and society.

Her article “‘Is This Thing On?’: Staging Gender, Sexuality, and Race via Metatheatricality” can be found in the Villanova CONCEPT Graduate Studies Journal.
