Emily H Diaz-Novak is a PhD Candidate and Instructor in the Africana & American Studies department at the University at Buffalo. Originally from Greenville, South Carolina, she holds a degree in Environmental Science from Winthrop University, a Master's degree in Multicultural Women's & Gender Studies from Texas Woman's University. Her doctoral research explores the impacts of Colombia's 2016 Peace Accord on Black and Indigenous communities of the Caribbean coast. Past research and professional partnerships include human trafficking recognition instruction and training in Dallas, TX, the Girl Scouts of Colorado (Denver), and the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, NY. Emily is also the Programming Coordinator for University at Buffalo's Graduate Student Association.
