"In 1922 May Burnett Talbert, Buffalo and internationally renowned human rights advocate, directed the NAACP's national Anti-Lynching campaign to win support for Missouri Congressman Leonidas Dyer's anti-lynching bill. However, Congress failed to ratify this bill, just as it had all previous and subsequent attempts to enact anti-lynching legislation. One hundred years after Talbert's crusade, Congress finally enacted HR55, the Emmett Till Antilynching Bill. On Tuesday, 29 March 2022 President Joseph R Biden signed into law HR 55, making lynching a federal hate crime."
