I’m a queer latino immigrant visual artist. Coming from a religious and over sexualized country like Brazil has a direct impact in my artwork. Being part of the “queer diaspora”, (gay people who left their home country to live in a more receptive society) turn the deterritorialized aspect of my life the main core of my artwork. As a Brazilian artist living in America, my interests are the multicultural personal expressions in an image-flooded world.
As a visual artist I’m interested in people, and the complexity of the human existence is reflected on the multi-layered aspect of my work. I mainly work with portraits and don’t restrict the media I use, since painting, photography, drawing, collage, video and digital images are for me in the same realm of interest: to represent the human condition. My work has no borders and is in constant revolution leading to different connections.
