H. Boone turns the euphoria of trans metamorphosis into tangible objects, sculpting and painting transgender bodies in a state of flux. Digital and physical mediums are blurred, visually and materially complicating the gender binary. Referencing queer world building, body horror, and science fiction like Octavia Butler’s Xenogenesis Series. In Boone's most recent project, TRANS/HUMAN, they 3D scan trans and gender nonconforming people in Buffalo to distort and sculpt their bodies digitally. Through this process Boone also built queer community in a city that was new to them. The resulting 3D printed sculptures are ecstatic, biomorphic shapeshifters: syntheses of individual and collective experience.
