At the University at Buffalo, we believe music should challenge, captivate and evolve. The Slee Sinfonietta is our professional chamber orchestra in residence and the centerpiece of the Robert and Carol Morris Center for 21st Century Music. Founded in 1997 by composer David Felder, it’s where groundbreaking new music meets world-class artistry.
A chamber orchestra built for the 21st century
The Sinfonietta is anything but traditional—though tradition plays a role. It’s known for performing daring, contemporary compositions alongside overlooked gems from the chamber orchestra repertoire. Each performance is shaped by internationally recognized conductors and composers who bring new perspectives to every score.
What sets us apart:
Each season brings something new and unforgettable
The Slee Sinfonietta offers a robust schedule of performances throughout the academic year, often premiering works that push boundaries and redefine what chamber music can be.
Challenging, inspiring, unforgettable
Whether you're a contemporary music devotee or just curious about what’s next in classical music, the Slee Sinfonietta offers something truly special. Expect music that makes you think—and feel.
