The CAS Student Advisement and Services Office assists undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences to plan their academic trajectory, develop goals and successfully complete their college careers.

Advising Practices in Fall 2021

These are not normal times. All persons (students, staff, and faculty) are required to wear masks while indoors on campus. We prefer to work with students virtually (over the phone of via Zoom), but will have limited opportunities for students to meet with advisors in the office.

APPOINTMENTS

You may make an appointment with your assigned advisor by going to the Navigate site or using the Navigate mobile app. There are also 'Make an Appointment' buttons throughout this website. Appointments by phone or Zoom are strongly encouraged, but in-person appointments may be arranged if necessary. The modality is chosen by the student when the appointment is made. If you choose a virtual appoitnment, you advisor will email you the information to connect via Zoom. If you choose a phone appointment, the advisor will call the number listed in HUB as your mobile phone, so please check to be certain the correct information is there.

If you wish to speak with an advisor other than the one assigned to you according to your major, or if you need some help making an appointment, you may call the office at (716) 645-6883 during business hours and ask for assistance.

QUICK QUESTIONS

There is one advisor 'on call' for Quick Questions each day (M-F), 1:00-3:00 pm. You may use the Navigate app to make an appointment, and choose the 'drop-in advising' option. This is available only during the deisgnated Quick Question times, and you can only speak with the on-call advisor, not necessarily your assigned advisor. You may also call the office at (716) 645-6883 and ask the receptionist to place you in the on-call advisors's 'queue'.
