Graduate Record Exam

An official score on the Graduate Record Exam is required. Effective Fall 2012, all PhD applicants must have taken the GRE within 5 years of application to a UB doctoral level program

Letters of Recommendation

A minimum of three letters is required from university faculty. The letters should address the applicant's potential for completing a course of advanced studies leading to the doctorate degree. It would be helpful if the letters address the following topics:

  • potential to complete the academic and research requirements for a doctoral degree
  • ability to absorb complex knowledge and ideas, to integrate information across disciplines and to think creatively
  • ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written form
  • ability to work independently ability in research

Resume, Letter of Intent

In order to evaluate the application, it is necessary to be familiar with the applicant's qualifications and experience. A current resume and a statement of educational and professional goals are required. Please include a section on your research interests.

Transcripts & Fees

Official university transcripts of all previous academic work should be sent to this department.

A fee of $75 is required prior to review of an application.  After you formally submit your UB application, you willl receive an email with instructions oh how to pay the fee via ePay. Currently, UB accepts Vis, MasterCard and Discover.

 

 

Application Materials

Applications are due by January 1st. Applications received after January 1st will be considered if space in the program is available. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply early to our UB graduate online application.  

Application Check List

  1. Completed application for admission into the Graduate Program in Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, or Speech-Language and Hearing Sciences.
  2. Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work.
  3. Report of the score on the GRE.
  4. A minimum of two evaluations by persons familiar with the student’s past academic, clinical, and/or research work, and who can attest to the student’s personal qualifications and potential for satisfactory completion of Ph.D.-level work in the field.
  5. A statement of the student’s academic and professional goals.
  6. A US $75 non-refundable application processing fee (U.S. currency only) paid through UB's ePay.
