Cordell was recently featured in an article with the distinction of a Government Technology Top 25 Doer, Dreamer and Driver award — a program started in 2002 to recognize those technology leaders putting their knowledge to work to solve problems and serve their communities. We thank our generous donors for creating these exceptional opportunities for our students. Taylor Anderson, a first-year MS student in our new Econometrics and Quantitative Economics program, was awarded the Kogut Brother Award ($6,300). Dania Abul-Enin, an Economics and Business Administration double major in her junior year, was awarded the Strauss Scholarship ($4,300). Lucas Grisanti, an Economics major with a minor in Statistics in his junior year, was awarded the Scarpati Scholarship ($3,400).

We are happy to announce that two of our PhD students have won the Dean’s Dissertation Fellowships this year! Bibaswan Chatterjee won the fellowship for his dissertation topic: “Corruption at Different Levels of Government: What Causes its Incidence and how it Impacts Economic Growth and Social Welfare?” Yiru Wang won the fellowship for her dissertation topic: “Essays on Education and Health in Rural China.” Congratulations to the winners! Good luck to both in completing your work impressively as well.

We are happy to announce the launching of a new STEM master's degree: MS in Econometric and Quantitative Economics. A STEM degree provides important additional benefits to both international and domestic students. International students will be granted a longer OPT timeline through the STEM OPT eligible criteria. Graduate students in the new degree will be eligible to receive outside STEM scholarships and aid, such as those from the NSF.

We welcome Senior Vice President Naveen Selvaraj and his team to speak about the role of credit risk management at Citi and the banking industry, and to discuss full-time and internship opportunities with his team. The information session will take place on Tuesday, February 14 at 5:30pm in Norton 214.
