Culminating Experiences for Graduate Students

Find the approved program guidelines for your dissertation, capstone portfolio, recitals or other culminating experiences below.

Recital recordings

Students giving degree recitals in Baird Recital Hall or Lippes Concert Hall may have their recitals recorded by the Department of Music.

How to Request Recording Services:

  • The fee payment must be submitted at least two weeks before your recital date via UB Marketplace.

Facilities and equipment

Practice rooms

  • Availability: Reserved on a semesterly basis for Department of Music students.
  • How to Reserve: Submit a request to the Department of Music during office hours.

Rehearsal spaces

  • Access: Keys for rehearsal spaces can be checked out from the Department of Music's main office in 220 Baird Hall, Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

Lockers: $5-$15 per semester rental fee

  • Fill out the Locker Request Form.
  • Submit payment via UB Marketplace and bring your receipt to the Department of Music to receive a locker assignment.

Accompanist request

To ensure proper arrangements for your recital accompanist, follow these steps:

1. Complete the Recital Accompanist Form: Obtain the form from the Department of Music's main office or download it from the department website.

2. Secure All Required Signatures: Ensure all necessary approvals and signatures are obtained from your instructor and any other relevant parties.

3. Submit the Form on Time

  • Deadline: Submit the completed form to the ATC in the Department of Music’s main office (220 Baird Hall) at least 4 weeks before your recital date.
  • Late Submissions: If the form is submitted late, the department may be unable to assist with accompanist fees. In such cases, the student will be responsible for covering the full cost.

Concert Hall Access

Reservations for degree recitals

  • Free Reservation: For degree recitals.
  • Scheduling: Must be done during the semester prior to your recital to ensure availability.
  • Duration: 3 hours for the recital and an additional 2 hours for a dress rehearsal a few days prior.
  • Program Submission: Submit a program to the concert manager at least two weeks in advance, or bring printed copies to the event.

Reservations for other events

  • Space can still be reserved for non-degree events, but a fee applies. Fees are determined by the Office of Concert Productions.
